A nice note from a former student

Alison Shields
Design Manager at Starbucks Coffee Asia Pacific Limited:

“Thanks for the recommendation Tony – I really appreciate it, especially unsolicited!  I had never taken a drawing lesson until Kwantlen and didn’t consider myself artistic at all, and now hand sketches are my favourite way to communicate design ideas quickly – and they’re pretty decent, if I say so myself! I always think of the little ant crawling around corners (‘flylines’) and disappearing before I emphasize an edge…hahaha!”

Hi Alison,
I saw you on Linkedin and I wrote this recommendation of your work that you can include on your profile:   “I knew Alison through her time in Interior Design Dept. at Kwantlen Polytechnical University. She was a truly talented student and I am sure she can handle anything life and career offer her.”    Tony

MANIKIN MADNESS ! – DO TRY THIS AT HOME

I set a 12 inch gray manikin into an action pose and then photographed it on a green-painted canvas background (green-screening). I took the photo into photoshop, selected and deleted the green coloured background. Then I took a city photo and added a pshop lense flare. I then set the manikin layer on top and played with filters for contrast. I repeated the figure at various angles and sizes. Action comic book cover anyone? This would be a lot of fun to do with kids and their dinosaur toys, etc.
